Duranes Open Space, Albuquerque South Valley

The parking lot has beautiful wood sculptures
A bridge passes over this acequia to the trailhead.
This open space is unique in that it requires a decent hike through the bosque to get to the river.

The hike goes under some power lines and through the tall trees of the bosque.

The hike continues by some wetlands that attract birds such as this MacGillivray’s Warbler.

The result of the hike is this unique view of the mountains where the river bends in the foreground.
