Photographic Eye–Bokeh

Bokeh is a Japanese term that means beautiful background. You can enhance it with your camera by focusing on the foreground and making the background blur and by using a quick exposure. You can also add it post-processing. We usually do not adjust for it but are delighted when it shows up naturally. That usually happens when the background is quite bright, and maybe even more so with water of any sort present.

This photo of a ring has bokeh added in post-processing. Another option in this form would be star-shaped bokeh.
