Lake Valley, Ghost Town 3 hours south of Albuquerque

Lake Valley is an abandoned silver mining town on the scenic highway between Hatch and Hillsboro, NM. It was most populated in the late 1800’s with railway service.

The old schoolhouse is the visitor’s center. You must ring the doorbell to alert the caretaker who will let you in and tell you about the town. The site is open Thursday-Monday from 9 to 4. Most of the buildings cannot be entered, nor can the old mine.
